Royal Council

The Royal Family Council

The Royal Family Council was preceded by an Advisory Council to the Great Place that iNkosi uSobantu had set up. It was initially constituted by a few Amafa-nankosi from some families. They were:

  • Messrs Thozama Mbakaza
  • Lawrence B. Magqashela
  • Themba Banjwa
  • A.Diliza Mdingane
  • Bukhosi.B.Mabandla
  • Lindisipho.D. Mabandla
  • Mthandeni.G.Mabandla
  • A.Mongezi Mabandla and later joined by M.Ndabezitha Mbakaza and Mziwakhe Dlokweni.

The Royal Council is a structure that is recognised by the government of the Republic of South Africa. Its members are nominated and decendants of iNkosi Mabandla extending into the third generation.

In addition to the ruling line of Jamangile i.e. George, the council is composed of the following representation:

  • Offspring from Jamangile’s brothers which is the 1st generation,
  • Offspring from George’s brothers which is the 2nd generation,
  • Offspring from Nelton’s brothers which is the 3rd generation.

Additional representatives include the Four Houses of Khuboni which have shared a close relationship of cooperation with the House of Jamangile kaMabandla. These Houses are:

  • Mbakaza
  • Dubo
  • Dlokweni
  • Magqashela

The Royal Council is mandated to oversee all matters zeSizwe, and is headed by iNkosi Zwelothando. As the head of the Jamangile kaMabandla Royal Family and custodian of the eLangeni area, all sittings of the Council are presided over by iNkosi.
